Privacy Policy
Last updated October 15, 2026
Knowmii Productions is a video editing app for Mac made by FRUM Inception Inc., Ottawa, Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app and our website do with your information.
The short version
- Your video, audio and photos stay on your Mac. We never receive them.
- The app sends text (mainly the transcript of what is said in your clips) to Claude, the AI made by Anthropic, using your own Claude API key, so Claude can plan the edit and write titles and descriptions.
- If you connect YouTube, the app uploads only the videos you choose, with the details you approve. Your connection is stored encrypted on your Mac and is never sent to us.
- Payments and license keys are handled by Polar, our payment partner. The app checks your license key with Polar now and then.
- We do not sell data, and the app has no ads or tracking.
What stays on your Mac
Your footage, music, photos, voiceovers, projects, transcripts, thumbnails, Shorts and finished videos are stored only on your Mac, in the folders you choose and in the app's own folder (Library / Application Support / Knowmii Productions). Speech is turned into text on your Mac by a built-in transcription tool; the audio is not sent anywhere for this.
What is sent to Anthropic (Claude)
When you plan an edit or use an AI feature, the app sends text to Anthropic's Claude API using the API key you entered. This text can include: the transcript of your clips, clip names and lengths, the instructions you typed on the checklist, and, when you ask for them, your title and description (for translations, thumbnail text ideas and picking Shorts). Video, audio and images are not sent.
This goes directly from your Mac to Anthropic under your own Anthropic account. Anthropic's handling of it is covered by Anthropic's terms and privacy policy (www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy). Any charges are between you and Anthropic. Your API key is stored encrypted on your Mac using the macOS Keychain and is only ever sent to Anthropic.
YouTube and your Google account
Connecting YouTube is optional. If you connect, Google asks you to allow Knowmii Productions to:
- Upload videos to your channel (YouTube upload permission): to upload the videos and Shorts you choose, with their title, description, tags, thumbnail, privacy setting and go-live time.
- See your YouTube account (YouTube read-only permission): to show your channel's name and picture, and to list your playlists so you can pick one.
- Manage your YouTube captions and playlists (YouTube manage permission): to add the captions the app made for a video you upload, add titles in other languages, and add the video to the playlist you chose.
The app only acts when you ask it to. It does not delete, change or read your other videos, comments or analytics.
How Google data is kept: the sign-in token Google gives the app is stored encrypted on your Mac (macOS Keychain). Your channel name, channel picture and playlist names are kept on your Mac to show in the app. None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. Knowmii Productions' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, and no person reads it.
Disconnecting: in the app, open Settings and click Disconnect. This deletes the token from your Mac and tells Google to withdraw the app's access. You can also remove access at any time from your Google account: Google account connections.
By uploading through the app you also use YouTube, which is covered by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your subscription and license key
Subscriptions are sold by Polar (polar.sh), who act as our reseller: they take payment, handle sales tax and invoices, and email you your license key. What you give Polar at checkout (such as your name, email and payment details) is handled under Polar's privacy policy. We receive your name, email and subscription status from Polar so we can support you; we never see your full card details.
When you enter your key, the app sends Polar the key and your Mac's name, so you can see which Macs use it (one key works on 2 Macs). After that, the app checks the key with Polar about twice a day while it is open. Nothing about your videos is included.
Updates
The app checks GitHub, where new versions are published, for updates. Like any web request, GitHub can see your internet address. No information about you or your videos is included.
Our website
Our website is hosted by Vercel and the app is downloaded from GitHub. Both keep standard server logs (such as internet address and browser type). When you download, the website checks your license key with Polar. Our website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers.
Children
Knowmii Productions is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Removing your data
Because your data is on your Mac, you are in control of it. To remove everything: disconnect YouTube in Settings, remove your Claude key in Settings, delete the app, then delete the folder Library / Application Support / Knowmii Productions. Your finished videos stay in the folders you saved them to until you delete them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app.
